Booth and poster presentation at the 18th Panhellenic Conference on Psychological Research!

October 09, 2022

From October 5th to 9th, I participated in the 18th Panhellenic Conference on Psychological Research organized by the Hellenic Psychological Society in Athens, Greece. It was nice coming back to my alma mater (Panteion University of Athens) and meeting old friends and colleagues. During the conference, we (with Leonidas Bourikas and Iouliani Pachiti) presented a poster entitled "Innovative technologies for the assessment and training of cognitive abilities in children". We also had a booth where we showcased immersive Virtual Reality (iVR) and tablet applications we have developed as part of the Neo-Prism-C ITN. Attendees had the chance to try out:
  1.  An iVR classroom for training attention in children with ADHD (by Iouliani Pachiti).
  2. A speech recognition system for assessing decoding skills in children and a gamified platform for data collection using tablets (by Leonidas Bourikas).
  3. A set of iVR rooms coupled with eye-tracking for studying learning and memory of spatial information in children (bottom left screenshots, by myself).
The response of the attendees was remarkable and the constructive feedback received was definitely helpful.
I firmly believe that iVR is the future of perception and cognition research and I am pleased to have familiarized the Greek psychological community with the use of virtual reality as a research tool!
